Statement on Baptism

Adopted 12/3/06

• Baptism is commanded by scripture for believers.

• Baptism is an external symbol describing the internal change of salvation.

• Baptism in scripture is by immersion.

Our Conclusion

• Baptism does not save a person.

• True believers will be baptized because it is an act of obedience.

• Since church membership presupposes an attitude of obedience, baptism is necessary.

• Believers wishing to join Wyatt must be baptized or, if already baptized, affirm the following about their baptism:

• It was believer's baptism.

• It was by immersion.

• The believer agreed with the essential beliefs of Wyatt at the time of baptism.

• The church under whose authority the baptism was performed agrees with the essential beliefs of Wyatt.
