Statement on Expository Preaching
Adopted 12/3/06
• Since God's Word is the basis of everything we believe and do, our study of God's Word must be taken seriously.
• The Bible says that preaching is the chief means for communicating God's Word.
• Topical preaching takes a subject and then seeks to find passages related to it whereas expository preaching starts with a passage and draws application.
• Topical preaching is more prone to man's ideas whereas expository preaching is more prone to communicate God's ideas.
• God knows better what we need, how we need it, and when we need it. Scripture offers perfect emphasis, repetition, and organization for learning.
• Expository preaching trusts God's judgment. Our Conclusion
• Wyatt church primarily practices expository preaching.
